Compliance Matrix

The Entity Compliance Matrix is the heart of the compliance dashboard. It presents a grid where rows are your entities (wells, leases, facilities) and columns represent compliance domains. Each cell is color-coded to show the compliance status at a glance.

Understanding the Grid

Rows (Entities)

Each row represents one entity in your portfolio. The row includes:

  • Entity name — The well, lease, or facility name
  • Type — A badge indicating whether it is a well, lease, facility, or other entity type
  • Field — The oil or gas field the entity belongs to

Columns (Compliance Domains)

The matrix has the following columns:

ColumnDomain
OverallThe aggregate compliance status across all domains
Rule 37Spacing compliance under 16 TAC 3.37
Rule 32Flaring/venting compliance under 16 TAC 3.32
Form PRMonthly production reporting compliance
FlaringFlaring volume and authorization compliance

Status Colors

Each cell in the matrix displays a color-coded badge indicating the compliance status for that entity and domain:

Tooltip Details

Hover over any cell to see additional details, including:

  • A description of the compliance issue (if any)
  • The relevant deadline date
  • Whether a rule change has affected this entity (indicated by a purple dot on the cell)

Filtering the Matrix

The toolbar above the matrix provides several filters to narrow down what you see:

Type in the search box to filter by API number, well name, lease name, or any other text. Results update as you type.

Entity Type Filter

Choose from:

  • All Entities
  • Wells
  • Leases
  • Facilities

Status Filter

Filter to show only entities with a specific compliance status:

  • All Statuses
  • Overdue
  • Action Needed
  • Compliant
  • In Review

District Filter

Filter by RRC district. All Texas districts are available, including:

  • 01 (San Antonio) through 10 (Panhandle)
  • Sub-districts like 07B, 07C, 08A

Field Filter

When available, filter by the oil or gas field. This dropdown is populated based on the fields represented in the current data.

You can combine multiple filters. For example, you can show only wells in District 08 that have an “Overdue” status.

Sorting

Click any column header to sort the matrix by that column. Click again to reverse the sort direction.

  • Entity name, Type, Field — Sorted alphabetically
  • Overall, Rule 37, Rule 32, Form PR, Flaring — Sorted by severity (overdue first by default, then action needed, in review, compliant, and N/A)

An arrow icon next to the column header indicates the current sort direction.

Row Actions

Each row has a three-dot menu on the far right. Click it to access:

  • Start Filing — Opens the entity workspace to begin a new filing for this entity
  • View History — Opens the filing history for this entity

Clicking a Cell

Click any status cell to navigate directly to the entity workspace for that entity and compliance domain. This is the fastest way to start working on a specific compliance issue.

Pagination

When your portfolio has more entities than fit on one page, pagination controls appear at the bottom of the matrix:

  • The current page number and total pages are displayed
  • Use the left and right arrows to move between pages
  • Each page shows up to 20 entities

Filtering from Summary Cards

When you click a summary card on the dashboard (for example, “Overdue”), the matrix automatically filters to show only entities matching that status. Click the same card again to remove the filter.
