Navigating the UI
The AEGIS interface is organized around a sidebar, a top bar, and a main content area. This guide walks you through each element so you can find what you need quickly.
Page Layout
The screen is divided into three regions:
- Sidebar (left) — Navigation links to all major sections of the platform
- Top bar (top) — Tenant information, search, display settings, and your account controls
- Main content area (center) — The active page content, which changes as you navigate

Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar provides quick access to every section of AEGIS. The navigation items are:

| Filings | The filing review queue where you approve or reject agent-generated filing packages |
| Flaring | The flaring dashboard with R-32 authorization tracking, volume charts, and predictive alerts |
| Events | The events log for tracking compliance-relevant activities |
| Conversations | The AI agent chat interface where you interact with agents directly |
| Entity Explorer | Browse and manage your wells, facilities, leases, and other entities |
Below a divider, you will also find a Configuration section with:

Collapsing the Sidebar
To save screen space, you can collapse the sidebar to icon-only mode:
- Click the collapse arrow at the bottom of the sidebar.
- The sidebar shrinks to show only icons. Hover over any icon to see a tooltip with its label.
- Click the expand arrow to restore the full sidebar.
Your collapse preference is remembered between sessions.
Active Page Indicator
The currently active page is highlighted in the sidebar with a blue indicator bar on the left edge and brighter text. This helps you stay oriented as you move between sections.
Tenant Information
At the bottom of the sidebar (when expanded), you will see your current RRC district and basin context — for example, “RRC District 08 — Permian Basin.”
Top Bar
The top bar runs across the top of every page and contains several controls:
Tenant and Organization
On the left side, you will see your organization name (for example, “Permian Basin Energy LLC”) and tenant identifier.
Search
Click the Search button (or press Cmd+K on Mac) to open the global search. This lets you quickly find entities, conversations, or pages across the platform.
Display Density
Three density options let you control how tightly information is packed on screen:
- Compact — Tighter spacing, more data visible at once. Best for experienced users with large monitors.
- Comfortable — Balanced spacing. The default setting.
- Spacious — More breathing room between elements. Easier to scan on smaller screens.
Click the density icons in the top bar to switch between modes. Your preference is saved.
Admin Link
If you have administrator access, the Admin link takes you to the administration panel for system configuration.
Theme Toggle
Click the theme icon to switch between:
- Light mode
- Dark mode (default)
- System mode (matches your operating system preference)
Account Controls
On the right side of the top bar, you will see:
- A role badge showing “Admin” or “Operator”
- Your user ID
- A Sign out button

The AEGIS interface uses a dark theme by default, designed for extended use in office environments. You can switch to light mode at any time using the theme toggle in the top bar.
